PivotDial ("the app," "we," "us") is a mobile application that displays center pivot irrigation rotation angles on a satellite map. This policy explains what data the app handles and what leaves your device.

The short version: PivotDial has no accounts and no cloud sync. Your pivot data stays on your phone. The only thing we collect is anonymous counts of feature use, and you can turn that off.

1. Data we collect

In the app, we collect anonymous usage counts, described in Section 4. We do not collect personal information: no names, no email addresses, no accounts, no coordinates. The counts include a coarse country and province or state, described in Section 4.

On our website, the only personal information we collect is what you choose to type into the contact form. See Section 6.

2. Location data

If you grant location permission, the app uses your device's GPS position to calculate and display your angle relative to a pivot center, and to automatically select the nearest saved pivot when the app opens.

• Location is processed entirely on your device. It is never transmitted to us.
• Location permission is optional. If you deny it, the app remains fully usable in virtual pin mode (dragging a pin on the map).
• The app does not track your location in the background and does not build a location history.

3. Data stored on your device

The following is saved locally on your phone only:

• Pivot profiles (center coordinates, pivot length, end gun throw, optional manual offset)
• Bookmarks (end gun on/off angles, stop positions, obstacles, and similar markers)
• App settings

This data never leaves your device. Deleting the app permanently deletes all of it. There is no backup on our servers because we have no servers holding your data.

4. Anonymous usage data

PivotDial counts how its features get used, so we can tell what's worth improving. There are four things it records: that a pivot was set up, that an angle was read, that a bookmark was saved, and that a manual offset was entered. Each one carries a little context: whether you set the center by dropping a pin or by averaging GPS, whether you read the angle from your position or from a dropped pin, which kind of bookmark it was, and the offset in whole degrees.

None of your field data is ever sent. No coordinates of any kind: not your pivot centers, not where you were standing, not the angles you saved. No pivot names, no bookmark labels, nothing you typed. There is no account and no device identifier. The only location signal is a coarse country and province or state, derived from your IP address when the count is sent. That tells us a reading happened somewhere in Saskatchewan or Nebraska; it cannot tell us which farm, which field, or which pivot.

These counts are handled for us by Aptabase, a privacy-focused analytics service that stores this data on servers in the United States. Like any internet request, sending the counts involves your IP address in transit; Aptabase's handling of that is described in Aptabase's Privacy Policy. Aptabase does not use persistent identifiers, so the counts cannot be tied to you or followed across time.

Usage data is on by default. If you'd rather not send it, open Settings and turn off Anonymous usage data. Everything in the app keeps working exactly the same, including offline.

5. Third-party services

Beyond Aptabase (Section 4), the app relies on a small number of services to function. They receive limited technical data as a consequence of how the internet works, not because we send them your personal information.

Apple Maps (satellite imagery). Map tiles are provided by Apple through the iOS MapKit framework. When the map loads, your device requests imagery from Apple's servers; those requests can include the map region being viewed and standard network information such as your IP address. This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not receive this information.

Expo Application Services (app updates). The app periodically checks for over-the-air updates to its software. These update checks are made to Expo's servers and include standard technical information such as your IP address, device platform, and app version. This is governed by Expo's Privacy Policy. We do not receive this information.

Apple App Store. Downloading and installing the app is subject to Apple's own data practices, which we do not control.

The app uses no advertising networks and no tracking technologies.

6. The PivotDial website

Our website at pivotdial.com is a static site. Visiting it does not require you to identify yourself.

Cookies and analytics. The website uses cookies and similar technologies, including Google Analytics, to understand how visitors find and use the site. This tells us things like which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are located, and which sites referred them. We use it to improve the site. We do not use it to identify you personally, and we do not use it for advertising.

Google Analytics is provided by Google and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and its description of how Google uses data from sites that use its services. You can opt out of Google Analytics on any website using Google's browser add-on, or by using your browser's cookie controls.

Hosting. The site is served by lovable.dev. As with any website, their servers receive standard technical information when your browser requests a page, including your IP address, browser type, and the page requested.

The contact form. Our support page links to a contact form hosted by Google Forms. Opening that form takes you to a Google-operated form, where Google's own terms and cookie practices apply.

If you submit the form, we receive the name, email address, topic, and message text you enter. We use that information for one purpose: to reply to you. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we will not send you marketing or promotional email without your separate, express consent.

Responses are stored in our Google account on Google's servers in the United States and other countries where Google operates. Google processes this data on our behalf. We do not use your submission for any other purpose and we do not share it with anyone else.

You may ask us to delete your message and our record of it at any time by writing to support@pivotdial.com, and we will delete both the form response and our email correspondence unless we are required to keep it.

None of this applies to the app. Website analytics are entirely separate from the app's anonymous usage counts described in Section 4. Nothing you do on the website is connected to your app usage, and nothing from the app is connected to your visit here.

7. Data sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share personal information with anyone. The anonymous usage counts are processed by Aptabase solely on our behalf and are not shared further. Website analytics data is processed by Google as described in Section 6; we do not permit Google to use it for advertising personalization.

8. Children

PivotDial is a professional agricultural tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

9. Your choices and rights

• Location permission: grant, deny, or revoke it at any time in iOS Settings. The app works without it.
• Usage data: turn it off any time in Settings under Anonymous usage data.
• Data deletion: delete the app to permanently erase all locally stored profiles and bookmarks.
• Access and correction: all data the app holds about you is visible and editable directly inside the app, on your device.
• Contact form messages: ask us at support@pivotdial.com to delete a message you sent us and we will remove it from our records.

Because the usage counts are anonymous and we hold no personal information other than contact-form correspondence, there is no other data about you for us to retrieve, export, or delete.

Residents of Canada have rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), including the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Residents of certain US states have rights under state privacy laws. You may contact us with any privacy question or complaint.

10. Security

Your pivot data is stored in the app's private storage area on your device, protected by iOS's standard app sandboxing and any device passcode or biometric protection you have enabled. Usage counts are sent to Aptabase over encrypted connections (TLS).

11. Connectivity

An internet connection is required to load satellite imagery. All angle calculations run locally on your device; loss of signal degrades imagery display only, never the math.

12. Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices change, we will update this policy and revise the "Last updated" date before those changes take effect. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
